Teach the most essential things about your occupation or hobby in 10 ideas

I am retired. There are four phases to retirement. I am currently somewhere between 3 & 4

    1. The Vacation Phase

I spent a year or so in this phase. First, you are all happy because it's like a never-ending weekend. Then it slowly changes, and you experience some of the losses of not working. You lose your routine. For me, I lost a bit of my identity, and I lost many of the relationships I made at work. Work gave me a sense of purpose which felt powerful. What was my purpose now?

    2. The three D's phase

This phase is where some will experience divorce, depression, and/or decline. The divorce rate after retirement has increased from one in ten in 1990 to one in four. Retirement can be a great time of readjustment for marriages. Knowing this can help you, and your spouse is better prepared not to become a statistic. One-third of retirees experience some type of depression. Again just knowing this can help you be prepared for how retirement could affect you. For many, retirement coincides with the time we start to experience physical and mental declines.

    3. The Trial and Error Phase

This phase is the "I can't go on like this, what do I do phase." The time when we ask how I can make my life meaningful again. This is the time to try something new, experiment, and find things you enjoy. Think of this time as your new twenties, a time to discover and find new passions and interests.

    4. The Reinvent & Rewire Phase

After much trial and error from the previous phase, we have found our purpose. We are doing new activities and making new friends. Our new activities are fun and meaningful and give us a sense of accomplishment. The losses experienced in phase two are recovered in this phase.
