Ten Of My Current Positive Habits
Been seeing things here and elsewhere about forming / maintaining habits. Realized I have more habits than I realized. Ten are here.
1. NotePD
Right now, my favorite and best 'streak' of doing it every day.
2. Write750.com
Writing at least 750 words per day. This is usually a data dump of what went on that day, plus some positive and negative events. Helps clear the mind, but wonder if I should repurpose it to be more productive?
3. Supplementing
A seemingly ever changing list of supplements - multi vitamins, minerals, oils, etc. Try different things, stop some, continue others.
4. Coffee Add-On
Using coconut oil in my coffee both for health benefits, reducing the dairy intake, and the flavor. Using ground cinnamon for health benefits and the flavor. These are easy to do, but some mornings in my rush to get out the door, I forget.
5. Hydration
At least 96 ounces per day, use the My Water app to track.
6. Water / Drink Add Ons
I use a green tea mix with Splenda with either flavored seltzer or water. Then I add (alternately) apple cider vinegar and ground ginger to my water once a day. Again, for both the health benefits, and the taste.
Have tried some of the "morning mixes" which are OK, but far too pricey. Water with a bit of salt and lemon is what I start the day with, most days. Unless I feel like coffee first.
7. Exercising
Daily - hindu squats, adjusted as advised by the ole' chiropractor to help the back pain, along with twists to help keep the back aligned. Real good with these habits, increasing the squats every couple of weeks. Rower for 30 minutes or more daily. OK with this. Modified yoga program (DDP Yoga) at least once or twice per week. Getting back to this. Will be adding planks this week or next.
8. Online Chess
One game per day vs. the computer. Played a lot as a kid, but lost interest for a lot of reasons. Don't think I'll get hard core with it, but it is a nice change of pace.
If I get any good vs. the computer, may try playing real people...
9. Cloud Pictures
To get myself to stop and enjoy what's around me, I'm now noticing the beauty of cloud formations each day. When I see some that I really like, I'll stop (unless in traffic) and get a picture.
10. Breathing
Not just regular breathing (which is kind of a "must do" habit), but a big inhale, hold, slow exhale and a "push out" of the lungs a couple times a day, or more when I'm feeling a bit stressed. Calms me down, gets me centered.
