Ten Things To Improve On
In no particular order...
1. Stretching
As I get older, I get tighter, especially the legs. When I stretch, I feel better. I know that, but I don't act on it. With my back / hip issues, this becomes more important.
2. Diluting Interests
I seem to like "shiny objects" when it comes to things like AI. Like to try things, so I'll sign up for just about everything then swear to "get back to it" but don't. New personal resolution - if I don't have a practical use for it (which would include fun), I won't sign up for it.
3. Completing Projects
I must have at least four or five things "in the works" that aren't completed and would probably improve our circumstances. But, the next item tends to foul me up...
4. Disrupting Routines
When I get too much into my routines, the negative ones tend to take over. This is much worse in the winter, when the weather keeps us inside. When I mix things up (like I am now because I want to get to as many of our son's lacrosse games as possible since this is his senior year), I tend to be better with time management and getting things done.
5. "Do It Or Drop It"
Looking back at #3, and other things, I do hold onto tasks and material things longer than I should. If it isn't important enough to complete, it isn't important enough to hold onto.
6. Exercise
Read somewhere that if you start with just showing up (sit on the rower), you'll tend to do it. I don't have a gym membership (probably should), but do have a rower and some DVD routines that I've done in the past.
7. Our Dog
He's basically a good boy, but doesn't get enough exercise or interaction with other dogs or people. Now that we're (sort of) into Spring, I will get him more walks (ties into #4) and to play with some of the neighbor's dogs.
8. Reading
I tend to go "all the time" then "not at all" - and too much of the latter these days.
9. Laughing
As I get older, I am tending to laugh less. I believe that's just because I don't come across opportunities to do so unless I'm with old friends. Gotta find more humor out there. @roccodesta, can you suggest a list of places to look? I do like your stuff, so I'm sure you have insight on this one...
10. Remembering I'm Not In Control
I can control myself and how I respond to things, but "the universe" will do what it will do. I look at that as God, others have their ways of looking at it, but ultimately none of us are in control.
