Ten Topics For People To Write About Their Lives
Realizing that my siblings and I learned a lot about our parents and their families after they passed, I wanted to put together something for our son to know more about Ray than just being Dad. I asked ChatGPT to give me ten categories to write about my life.
Do have some pieces of each started, and will focus on getting them done (or at least a good deal done) over the holidays.
1. Turning Points
Moments that changed your direction, beliefs, or priorities.
2. Firsts and Lasts
Your first job, last big risk, or other milestone “bookends.”
3. People Who Shaped You
Mentors, friends, or even rivals who left a mark.
4. Places That Stay With You
Childhood neighborhoods, travel memories, or “sacred spaces.”
5. Moments of Courage
Times you stood up, spoke out, or simply kept going.
6. Mistakes and Lessons
Failures that taught you something essential.
7. Everyday Joys
Small rituals or simple pleasures that define who you are.
8. Cultural or Generational Shifts
How the world changed around you (and how you adapted).
9. Family Traditions and Stories
The tales that get told again and again.
10. Hopes for the Future
How you’d like to be remembered, or what you still want to do.
