There are no leaves.
The leaves are of the mind.
A yard filled with leaves is an illusion.
Being attentive.
Presence.
In reality, there is no past or future, only now.
2. There's only a small pile at any given time that needs some attention.
What is before me right now?
Certainly, not the entire yard.
Raking, raking, and more raking until the chore is done.
What could be more simple?
3. Gamify it.
I talk to the leaves and the soil.
I'm talking about having a full-blown conversation.
I give thanks to the rake for serving me so faithfully.
I thank nature for being honest.
I thank the wind for its sound.
I break the yard into quadrants.
I enjoy the process and forget about the destination.
4. Turn the chore into a dance.
The leaves will follow your lead.
They don't resist.
They're playful.
They love to interact with rakes.
Most of all, they love the attention.
