The mostly unnecessary striving to become a better person.
Today I noticed how much content on various social media is about becoming a better person:
- to be more productive
- dealing lovingly with other human beings
- to make the most of every day
- to be thankful
- to lose weight
etc.
It's a somewhat superficial endeavor - like a child telling itself every day that it must always be good.
Isn't it enough to be halfway decent and to cope with the tasks of our existence with some degree of fairness and intelligence?
Posts about striving to be a better person are a distraction from the real (and sometimes painful) questions that human beings ask themselves...
Anyway, I've decided to refrain from spreading such wisdom in the future and instead limit myself to what I really have to say.
