The S.O.S. Trap. (2 min)

Preview

    1. Chasing Illusions Until We Hear the Call Within.

Layer 1: S.O.S. as Shiny Object Syndrome — The Ego’s Distraction Game
Picture this: a new job, a fresh romance, that next gadget you’re sure will complete the picture. Shiny Object Syndrome is the ego’s favorite trap. Each new thing sparkles with promises of happiness, of feeling “whole.” The ego tells you, This is what you’ve been missing. Yet, every time, the glitter fades.
Just as you get close, the excitement dies, and right on cue, something shinier beckons. And so it goes — chasing one illusion after another, mistaking thrills for fulfillment. The ego’s game? Keep you running, so you never stop to look within, never pause to ask, Why am I chasing?
Layer 2: S.O.S. as “Something Out There is Special” — The Ego’s Promise of External Salvation
Here, the ego plays sleight of hand. It insists salvation is “out there,” just waiting to be found in someone or something “special.” If you find the right person, land the right job, or reach the perfect lifestyle, you’ll finally be complete. It’s a bait-and-switch, feeding the illusion that peace and joy can be chased down.
But the moment we believe that lie — that salvation lies “out there” — we’ve lost. The ego keeps us reaching just beyond what we have, keeping us bound in the illusion that anything external could save us. Yet each find leaves us wanting more, deepening the emptiness, and keeping us looped into the endless pursuit of “enough.”
Layer 3: S.O.S. as the Cry for Help — The Soul’s Call to Wake Up
And here’s where the chase hits a wall. We’re worn out, maybe even desperate, finally realizing nothing we’ve chased has filled the void. This is the true S.O.S., the call for help from within. It’s the soul whispering, Help me remember who I am. It’s a moment of reckoning — nothing “out there” ever truly brought us home.
This cry isn’t for something else to chase; it’s a wake-up call. The answer has been within us all along, as close as our own breath. The Holy Spirit, the voice for God, waits for us to listen, patiently reminding us: You are already whole. You are already loved. You are already home.
So, here’s the real question: When do we stop chasing shiny objects outside and start turning toward the light within? The true S.O.S. isn’t out there—it’s a call to awaken to what’s real. The only question left is, Are you ready to listen?
