Top 10 Study Tips

I am trying to study at the moment for an exam. I am making a list of the top 10 study tips that could be effective for me to learn and hopefully ace the exam.

    1. Pick a place and time

Your study space should be quiet, comfortable and distraction-free. It should make you feel happy and inspired. Some people work better in the morning. Others work better at night. Work out which time suits you and plan to study then. I am better with studying in the evening.

    2. Study every day

I try to divide the big elephant in the room. I try to aim studying for like 2 hours minimum per day. If you study a little bit every day you'll be continually reviewing things in your mind. This helps you understand things. It also helps you avoid the stress of last-minute cramming.

    3. Plan your time

It helps to have some plans in motion so you can make the most of your study time.

    4. Discover your learning style

I realized that I am more of a visual type of learner. I prefer watching videos but I can also do some reading but not too much because I get bored easily. Most of us have a preferred way of learning. Get to know the learning style you're most comfortable with and study in the ways you learn best.

    5. Review and revise

Thinking things over can help you to understand the concepts and help you remember when you need them the most.

    6. Take breaks

I am trying to apply ''Pomodoro Technique''. I study for 25 mins then have a break for 5 mins. This is repeated four times and after that, I will have a longer break which will lasts for 30 minutes.

    7. Ask for help

I google or ask people online if I feel stuck about something. I find Reddit or FB groups to be good places to ask questions.

    8. Stay motivated

What motives me to continue is thinking about my goals and the things I want to achieve. It can help to have something in your study space to remind you of your goals.

    9. App it up

There are heaps of apps out there for helping students with all aspects of study.

    10. Look after yourself

You’ll study better if you take care of yourself. Make sure you eat well and get enough sleep and physical exercise. Don't reward yourself with too many sugary or fatty snacks or push yourself to study late into the night. It’s also a good idea to make sure you drink lots of water when you’re studying.
