Useful skills I could learn (or improve upon)

1. A second language
For years I've been half-assing foreign language learning. I know enough Spanish where I can fumble my way through a conversation if needed. And I've been trying to learn Chinese (Mandarin) for a few years, but I've really been light on my effort--especially on vocabulary. Perhaps it's time to double down and make a really big push on that end.
2. Teaching English
I'm taking a course right now online and I'm hoping to get an in as a volunteer tutor. Until then, I'm just exploring this as a possible option--it would be incredibly difficult (and somewhat lucky) to make a genuine career out of this, but I'm enjoying learning so far.
3. Web design & development
I've had a grasp of HTML for years and I'm decent-enough with CSS, I suppose. But getting myself to do anything practical with this knowledge is easier said than done. Maybe it's time to refresh and give it another whirl.
4. Catholic apologetics
I'm hardly an evangelist or a scholar, but getting better insight into my faith through the study of it can't really be a bad thing.
5. Writing
I like to write. I don't do it consistently enough. Maybe starting this way and writing lists like this daily is a good start to rebuilding my writing muscle.
6. Linux
In an effort to cut back on/cut out PC gaming, I've moved from Windows to Linux. I'm currently using ZorinOS, which feels very user friendly, but I recently bought a Thinkpad that I plan to run Linux on. That might be a good excuse to start learning more of the deeper ins and outs of Linux.
7. Sales
I've been in retail for over a decade. I've gotten to the point where I can play "pushy salesman" with someone, and I'm quite decent at it (I just hate it). Learning more about making sales has no real downside, especially in my current field.
8. Public speaking
I've never been uncomfortable speaking in front of groups--in fact I like it--but I lack a lot of experience in that area.
9. Running
Not something particularly useful to most employers, but starting to run could be a good start into bettering myself physically.
10. Musical instrument
Like languages, I've been poking at the ukulele for a few years, but I'm nowhere near as good as I could be. I haven't used it in a few months. It could be nice to get more musically-inclined.
