Using Your Sixth Sense to Tell Your Stories

Writers who rely on their five physical senses are missing out on using the spiritual power of their intuition, where anything is possible.

    1. Writing is the land of Pretend, and Our inner voice, or Intuition, comes from direct knowledge, without thought, Which Allows us to Play with new, outrageous ideas.

Be comfortable not knowing how your writing project will end.

The anxiety of not knowing what to write will disappear when you trust your inner knowing to guide your story. Your subconscious mind, which feeds your intuition, contains 95% of your knowledge. This is where the gold is. I wrote an entire novel doing free-writing without an outline, by trusting my inner voice and letting it flow.

    2. Writing is Playing With Words and Ideas in New Ways, Not only thinking about them, So get Quiet and Listen to Your Inner Knowing

Your subconscious mind, where your intuition lives, needs some space to cut through the noise and thousands of thoughts cluttering up your conscious mind.

As you sit down to write, relax and get quiet, tapping into your inner voice to take your stories on imaginative journeys. Trust your sixth sense to surprise you, as your thoughts and feelings in your subconscious mind, and are accessed in a quiet, receptive, creative state.

    3. Get Your Intuitive State Flowing with Meditation, Deep Breathing, And Sitting in Nature

    Preview

When you become present with meditation and deep breathing, you are able to put yourself into the body and minds of your characters. You will see pictures in your mind of their worlds, and predict what they would think or say and make them human by giving them breath, and life by using your intuition about them as you get to know them better..

    4. A Writer's Intuition is A Mind Stretcher

    Preview

Shakespeare didn't write Hamlet with his logical mind. He got in tune with the King of Denmark dying and had his ghost appear in the opening scene. Ghosts are conjured up in your intuition, where you play with images and ideas and scary feelings. By the way, Elizabethans totally accepted the idea of ghosts being real, as they trusted their gut when they saw one. Today, if you say you saw a ghost, people say "did you get a video on your phone?' We have let our logical minds overrule our intuition and have shrunk.

    5. Do You Ever Hear Someone Calling Your Name? This is Intuition. Use it In Your Writing.

Intuition responds to you by making you hear someone calling your name. Use this for your writing, by having your character in your story think they hear someone calling their name and then imagine who it would be, and use it as a message from their intuition to connect with the character they heard calling their name.
