What is the best type of Cardio?
I do no traditional cardio. I am able to remain physically qualified to be a wildland firefighter at kind of an old age just doing the following.
1. Lifting weights with high intensity
All high intensity means is using enough weight that it forces you to move slowly and very little rest time in between sets. Done correctly, lifting is cardio but traditional cardio will not build muscle mass.
2. HIIT 1
3. HIIT 2
Some sort of sprinting. I run these stairs once or twice per week.
4. Trail hiking
Only cardio going up hill but hiking on uneven surfaces is good for promoting/maintaining balance.
