What Makes Or Breaks A Snorkeling Excursion

    1. Visibility

Some waters are clearer than others. And inclement weather like wind or rain will worsen visibility.

    2. Current Weather Conditions

Getting buffeted by waves makes it hard to navigate, stay off coral reefs, and generally stay focussed on spotting wildlife

    3. The Fauna

What kind of wildlife can be seen on-site? The more colourful the fish, the better in general. Non-fish wildlife like moray eels, sea turtles, octopi, and sharks are all great too.

    4. The equipment

If you're renting, hopefully, the equipment is in good condition and can fit everyone in your group. It stinks when little ones get shafted on experiences because they happen to be smaller.

    5. Safety Protocols of the guide/operator

Is the local guide knowledgeable about the hazards of the site? Do they have first aid kits and experience? If you're in a large group, do they do good headcounts and safety briefings?

    6. Proximity to your hotel/resort

5 hours of travel for less than an hour in the water isn't a good trade-off, for example.

    7. Refreshments

Having something good to eat or drink after being in the water always enhances the experience.
