What type of jobs don't I want?

I'm not sure what job I want. Maybe focusing on avoiding what I don't want will lead me to what I do want.

What type of jobs don't I want?
Preview

    1. 9 + hours a day

It's too much. 6 hours is my limit. I do a lot outside of work, writing, designing, reading ect. It's just too exhausting on my body. Especially when it's not just once, but multiple times during the week.

    2. Waiting

I hated this aspect in security. Most of the job was waiting about for trouble to arrive. Hated it. Even when I have days of I look to keep myself busy, doing nothing drives me nuts.

I also got to this point with teaching. I knew my lessons inside and out so the planning time soon became waiting about doing nothing time. Hated it. Eventually read, listened to podcasts and focused on learning new things during this time.

    3. Automated

I hate feeling like a robot. Grab box, open box, put content on shelf, repeat. Wait, check I'd, wait, if trouble intervine else wait.  If a robot can do it, I'm not intrested.

I want to use my mind, solve new problems. Do something new everyday.

    4. Stressful

I don't want to do anything that makes me stressed. Security was very stressful. Retail can be at times. From what I've seen chefs are always stressed, so I'll be avoiding that. Teaching was good until I got told to do everything differently, despite all evidence showing that what I was doing was working well.

Too much physical labour brings stress. I'm good at shutting my mind off and not overthinking, but overthinking also stresses me out.

    5. Team

I'm good at working in a team, but I enjoy working on my own more. If I'm working with the right people I love it, if not time drags on and everything just feels a little worse.

Tell me what I need to do and let me get on with it. My sort of job.

    6. Dull

I want to feel that what I'm doing is making a difference. That it's meaningful. I felt this with teaching. Not so much with anything else.

    7. Work with high school graduates/drop outs

I enjoy working with the kids always a good laugh, but I'm a graduate, spent 4 years teaching and am far too smart to be doing the same job as them. Surely all my experience counts for something, it's on me to make sure I value myself higher than a first job position.

    8. Exhaustion

I don't want to do anything that makes me want to do nothing but rest on my days off. I slept for 12 hours today, rested for most of the day and I still feel like I've just finished a marathon. I don't want to do anything that leads to me being this tired.

    9. Frozen

I don't want to do anything in which I'm not growing. When I'm not at work I spend most of my time looking for ways to grow, I want to expand that to work. It could be working towards a promotion. Learning new skills. Solving new problems. If I don't see growth I'll feel useless and that's not a feeling you want to feel every time you work.

    10. No problems

I love solving big problems. Those are my favourite idea lists. I want a job where I'm tackling big problems coming up with new ideas and experimenting to see what works. I want to help build a better world.
