10 Effective Ways To Exercise Without 'Going To The Gym'

For this list:

- I won't list separately things which are similar.

- I'm not including 'online classes / remote training' as that is still 'going to the gym' at home.

- These ideas should allow the person to move their body often & well enough to suffice the need for any additional exercise regimen.

    1. 'Just get one kettlebell.'

    What I mean here is, you don't need a lot of equipment. In fact, you don't need ANY equipment. You can get very, very strong using calisthenics only, either at home or at your local park. You can also use a backpack with some books in it for weights.

    Here's a link to a bodyweight program that works.

    (This idea is close to 'going to the gym', but I needed to point it out. No gym membership or equipment needed.)

    2. Walk, preferably in nature, every day.

    3. Endurance activities: swim, bike, run, jog, etc.

    Any duration or intensity level.

    4. Play a sport.

    With a team, partner, or by yourself. Any sport.

    5. Landscaping / gardening / farming.

    6. 'Adventure' activities: hiking, climbing, hunting, base jumping ... whatever.

    7. Manual labor: construction, carpentry, sculpting ...

    Whether for pay or not.

    8. Coach.

    When I coach youth sports, I'm very active.

    9. Volunteer to pick up litter.

    10. 'Sneak it in' throughout your regular day.

    Many, many ways to do this. Do push-ups every hour on the hour, or random intervals, or accomplish a certain # of reps per day in total any way you can ...
