10 Ideas for an Idea List

I'm reading "Skip the Line" by @JamesAltucher and I'm inspired.

I've complained to friends that my ideas branch out too much. One idea leads to five ideas, then one of those five ideas leads to ten ideas, etc., and I end up with hundreds of ideas. I don't know which ones are good and which ones are laughable garbage. It's frustrating.

I'm going to think of it as a muscle, as James suggests. Writing down random ideas as they pop up throughout the day is one thing. Forcibly flexing out 10 ideas on a specific topic is quite another.

I didn't want to start so meta, but truthfully, it's the only place I could begin.

Here's 10 ideas for a future idea lists.

    1. 10 Things I Can Teach

I love teaching. I love learning. The way to share a love of learning is to teach. I've made money as a teacher in the past, and it's the most rewarding feeling. I LOVE the look on a student's face when something they've been struggling with finally "clicks".

    2. 10 Twitter Threads I Can Write

I read Twitter, but I seldom post. If I'm passionate about a particular topic, I'll write too much. It's not conducive to Twitter. Condensing a big idea into short tweets will help me trim the fat and be more decisive.

    3. 10 Benefits of NotePD

I'm very new to this app. I admittedly have an aversion to technology. But, I've been a fan of James Altucher and I think this is a platform that can improve my wellbeing.

    4. 10 "Getting to Know Someone" Questions

Super easy. I love questions. I have over fifty that I ask frequently. What are my top 10 favorites?

    5. 10 Novella Ideas

I love writing, but as of now, writing a novel is not worth it. (If you've read @JamesAltucher's "5/25" post, writing a novel is not in my Top 5 interests, and I'm committing to that idea this year). BUT... that doesn't mean I can't have some ideas on deck should my life & interests change in the future.

    6. 10 Ways to Improve NotePD

I'm new here. I know and understand little about how it works. But because of that, I have the ever important "new user" perspective. I could find ways to make this app more attractive to newcomers.

    7. 10 Ways to Advertise 'the Now of things'

Two years ago, I wrote a translation of the 'Tao Te Ching'. I condensed each of the 81 verses into four lines and a rhyme. I didn't advertise at all. I wanted to see what would happen if I just created it without expectation and let it go.

Now I'm curious what would happen if I actually tried to advertise it.

    8. 10 Breath Meditations

Breathing meditations rewired my mind, body, and energy the same way the daily idea list rewired James' brain.

Breath is the most overlooked aspect of our wellbeing because it's automatic. People don't understand there's a way to do it 'well' or 'better'.

You take an average of 22,000 breaths a day. If you breathed better, think about all the compound interest your health and energy would accumulate.

    9. 10 Good Parables

I love a good story. I love a good parable. I have a ton floating around in my head. It'd be helpful to organize them.

    10. 10 Personal Commitments of 2023

Commitment can be difficult, but rewarding.

Whether it's committing to a romantic partner, committing to a diet or exercise program, or committing time to a project, commitment challenges who you are and what you stand for.

Committing to something for life can be tricky because we don't know how life will change. But committing for a year... that's doable.
