10 things to work on while changing your career

    1. Define your goals

The first step to changing your career trajectory is to define your goals. What do you want to achieve in your new career? What are your long-term goals? Once you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, you can start working towards making it a reality.

    2. Set aside time each week to work on your career change

One of the best ways to make progress on your career change is to set aside time each week to work on it. Dedicate an hour or two each week to researching industries, networking, updating your resume, etc. This will help ensure that you make consistent progress and don’t get sidetracked by other obligations.

    3. Research your options

Once you have defined your goals, it is time to research your options. What are the different career paths that can help you achieve your goals? What are the pros and cons of each option? Doing your research will help you make an informed decision about which career path to pursue.

    4. Create a plan

After you have done your research and decided on a new career path, it is time to create a plan. How are you going to make the transition? What steps do you need to take in order to achieve your goals? Having a plan will help you stay on track and make the transition as smooth as possible.

    5. Network

One of the most important things you can do when changing your career is to network. Connect with people who are already working in the field you want to enter. Attend industry events and meetups. Get your name out there and make connections that can help you in your new career.

    6. Learn new skills

In order to succeed in a new career, you may need to learn new skills. If you don’t have any experience in the field, consider taking some courses or getting a certification. There are many online resources that can help you learn the skills you need for success.

    7. Get experience

If possible, try to get some experience in the field before making the switch. This can be difficult if you don’t have any connections, but there are many ways to get experience, such as internships, volunteering, or shadowing someone who already works in the field. Getting experience will give you an edge when applying for jobs in your new career.

    8. Update resume

When changing careers, it is important to update your resume so that it reflects your new goals and objectives. Highlight any relevant skills and experience that you have, even if it is from a previous job or industry. Your resume should be tailored specifically for the new career you are pursuing.

    9. Expect Setbacks & Persevere through them

There will inevitably be setbacks along the way when changing careers. You may not get the job you want right away or things may not go as planned. It is important to persevere through these setbacks and continue working towards your goals. Remember that every setback is just another opportunity to learn and grow closer to achieving your dreams

    10. Seek out a mentor

Finding someone who has already made a successful career change can be extremely helpful as you navigate your own transition. A mentor can provide guidance, advice, and support as you make changes in your own life .
