10 ways to write better
1. Understand your why
Why are you writing this? What are you trying to do?
2. Identify your audience
Who are you writing this for? What do they already know? What don't they know? What questions would they have?
3. Cut out filler words
Look for words like "absolutely" "kind of" "like" "that"
4. Check formatting
Bullets are one of the best ways to share multiple thoughts at once
5. Write with plain language
Imagine you had to communicate this to a 5-year-old, how would your language change?
6. Ask yourself is it clear what the writing is supposed to do
Is it to inspire action? Make people laugh? Help people understand how to do their work?
7. Follow AIDA
Attention, Interest, Desire, Action
8. Use a good subject line
If you're writing an email. But it could also be a book (chapter)
9. Ask what's in it for them?
Don't write from the perspective of what you want. Ask yourself what's in it for the recipient(s)?
10. Make it interesting
If you read through and yawn, it's probably going to bore the hell out of your audience
