Are you aligned with your financial dreams?
In his book "The Big Leap", the famous psychologist Gay Hendricks explains that our zone of competence prevents us from reaching our zone of genius.
We are so comfortable there (the security of a job, the comfort, a form of success) that we don't dare to leave it.
The problem?
It creates a frustration that gradually eats us away.
But what is the link with our "financial dreams"
1. I see an analogy with the way we invest.
For years I was afraid of the financial markets. So my refuge was safe products. (Like term accounts).
Like the competence zone, they were not good tools for my dream of financial independence.
I didn't risk losing but also didn't risk gaining much.
2. The trigger, ensuring that my investments were in line with my dream.
Everyone has to find his or her tool, the one that fits best.
Mine was the discovery of passive indexing through a global ETF ( The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins finally convinced me)
3. To succeed in your career or your investments, you have to
take the time to think about the important questions ( what do I really want? ), accept the uncertainty, and continue with patience.
Enjoy the journey.
