Easy ways to Increase your Food Security

    1. Whole pork shoulder on the grill

    Lots of food for not much money. Eat as pulled pork and then use in tacos and stir fry

    2. Oatmeal

    Very versatile. Sweet (peanut butter and fruit) or savory (onions and eggs). Thicken soup.

    3. Rice

    4. Bean soup from dried beans

    Takes overnight but good for days.

    5. Bean chili from dried beans

    6. Stir fry

    Learning to make this gives you lots of variety with vegetables plus protein

    7. Peanuts for snacks

    Very cheap

    8. Eggs

    and cheap

    9. Substitute ice water with lemon juice and a pinch of salt instead of Gatorade

    better and lower calorie

    10. Whole turkey

    Great value: not just for thanksgiving
