How to maintain relationship with family and friends as an adult.
It is hard to make friends as an adult.
We lose track of family, until we need to be together for a funeral.
I have been trying to insist to speak and keep in touch with family no matter how far and separated we seem due to work.
Here are some efforts I make to keep in touch.
Please note. Don't do it expecting them to return it. You will be disappointed.
It just blessed my heart to get in touch and see them in person. We make memories and friendship at the end of it all.
1. Ask for their number.
Ask for their contact. And when they post something on their status be sure to reply. Keep them engaged. Be the first to reach out.
2. Meet up!
Ask to meet. Ask them when they are not at work. Be the one to visit them. Always carry some nice memorabilia like a painting or gift bag or t-shirt. If they have kids do bring them some big cake or some fruits.
3. Let them know you care about their friends/family too
Share photos if you meet with their family or friends. Recently I visited my auntie and I met her grandkid. We had fun and I posted the pics to her mother(my cousin)
4. Say Hello when you are Around
Ask to meet them if you are in their city. If they are not available give them a heads-up whenevee you are going back. You can ask them to host you or ask recommendations for nice places to stay or dine.
5. How to get their number without asking.
When you make new friends ask them for their contact. Take a pic together and ask they send it to your WhatsApp or email. Get it going from there. Ask where they stay and see when you can meet again.
6. Get into contact fast.
When you go for social events like hikes or book clubs. Befriend before the activity starts. That way you will be looking forward to meet them after the event.
