How to start a business

    1. Identify your passion

Don’t start a business that you think will make money. Start a business that you are passionate about. Money will follow passion.

    2. What do people want?

Figure out what people want and are willing to pay for but can’t get some reason.

    3. What are your skills?

Figure out what skills you have that can be applied to something people want.

    4. How much money do you need to start?

The less the better. You don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket. If you only have $100 and an idea, start today with $50, save the other half, and see if the idea works before investing more.

    5. Who is your competition?

Find out who your direct competitors are and WHY they exist. Figure out how you can be different or better than them or else you won’t succeed even if the idea is good. The best businesses were not in competition with anyone when they started because nobody was doing what they were doing (see point #1).

    6. What is your 10 year plan?

You should have a plan for where this business will be in 10 years (or less if possible). This doesn’t mean it has to happen but it gives you a goal so you know where to go and how to get there (see point #7).

    7. Execution!

Execute every day on the things that move this business closer to your 10 year plan (see point #6) even if it doesn’t seem like it is moving closer or seems like a waste of time because “you don’t have time right now” because these are the seeds of success later on (see point #8).
