If you are so inclined, learn to meditate to hallucinate

This is something that I learned to do. I have not achieved any "heroic dose" hallucinations this way but I can usually get mild hallucinations in a few seconds of meditation. Sometimes it won't work. This still works for me and I have not taken any psychedelics for over 30 years.

Thanks to @lovingkindnesscomedy for asking for clarification!

    1. This is thinking without words

So if words start creeping into your thoughts, just let them float on out.

    2. Learn to View stereograms

i was fascinated with these. Salvador Dali painted large canvases that are stereograms.

when I see these my brain "clicks" into the same slot that I use for this kind of meditation.

    3. Start with “brain movies” with your eyes closed

Make your own screen saver in your brain.

    4. Create an idea bank for images

If you want to be able to create psychedelic images for yourself, you can make a bank of these images. There are particular space travel or psychedelic scenes in movies. Also, modern art, fireworks, stop motion animation. Increase your visual vocabulary.

    5. Try creating physical sensations like vines filling the inside of your skull or having skin contractions as if you are a snake or being hugged by a cloud or filling with warm fluid

    6. Pick a static pattern that you can stare at

I have found that things that are still are best: a brick sidewalk, a Persian rug. A building, a tile floor, a tree, a bookshelf, a pile of rocks, a picture.

It is harder to look at the clouds or ocean and make this work.

    7. Learn to relax and let the periphery of your vision shift

You may detect shadows changing at the periphery of your view. If you focus on them you are likely to pop out of your concentration zone. Let these views happen.

i have found that I can get patterns to visually flow in a few seconds.

    8. Create sound collages

These can accompany your brain movies. You can build a mental library of these types of sounds by listening to nature sounds or early electronic music (1960s and earlier) by people like Stockhausen:

    9. Stare into a mirror and into your own eyes

This can get weird but lean into it.

    10. When I succeed in entering this state I am “gone”

Every once in a while I will do this type of meditation in a supermarket line or other public space. It can get a little weird and you will freak people out. I guess it looks like I am on Tranq.

The good part is you can blink and be back in reality. That freaks people out even more!
