It’s counterintuitive I know…

But you will be more effective in your leadership by stopping doing something harmful than by starting something new.

Let's say (not your case 😀) that you tend to give your point of view before listening to others.

Changing behavior is hard, super hard. But it can be done.

3 keys to help you (including one that takes less than 2 minutes and works magic.)

    1. Breath and listen

    0

You feel the urge to shout your advice. Breathe and listen.

    2. Self Reflection

    0

At the end of the day, or in the morning, ask yourself the following questions

–How many times during the day have I failed to listen before giving my advice?

–How could I have reacted differently?

    3. Follow-up. If you do only one thing, do this (it's magic and takes less than 1 min per day)

    0

    –Open an excel spreadsheet

–Write down the following question: "Did I do my best to listen before I gave my advice?”

–Self-rate yourself from 0 to 10 every day. Zero, I didn't manage to control myself, 10 was a perfect day.

–Compare your average from week to week.

–When you feel you have mastered that new habit, pick the next one to improve. (hint, it takes time😀)

    4. You can replace "listening" with any behavioral habit you want to change.

Do this for 15 days and watch how your relationships with the people around you improve.

Which habit will you start to change today?
