Seeking advice: Overcoming the Comfort Zone in Productivity

Great challenge - this is one of the issues I help my clients with. It's actually quite simple to solve but might require some soul-searching (there are exercises for that too that will get you there faster)

    1. CONNECT TO YOUR WHY

If you want to have a never-ending motivation source - you got to understand what it is you really want to create in this life.

What legacy do you want to leave?

Not just some job or a project - long-term what vision of your life do you have?

And then the five whys exercise helps (from Sakichi Toyoda, Toyota industries founder).

Why do you do what you do?

    And why is that important?

    And why is that important?

    And ....

    You get the idea.

Keep digging until you feel a strong emotion.

Sometimes you'll have to leave the question in your head for a few days before you get the answer in one or the other form.

Meditate to speed up the process.

    2. DON'T AIM LOW

Another one - have goals that last years!

How do you think Elon Musk has the motivation to go after it for decades?

He has a meaningful goal that won't be accomplished in his lifetime.

    The exercise above will help.

Have a life/mission statement that lasts longer than you.

    3. KEEP RAISING THE BAR

    Motivation is about dopamine.

Dopamine is about the pursuit of challenging goals and not forgetting to celebrate small milestones every day.

If you lose motivation - you lost connection to why it's important for you.

    How to find it?

Sit down and do 5 whys exercise. (See the first step)

Why is this meaningful to you?

    There's always a deeper reason.

Find it - and you'll find the eternal fountain of motivation.

Hope this helps! - Based on the current neuroscience research. Feel free to ask questions.
