Settling In For A Long Flight
I mentioned an upcoming trip later this month. Flying time will be about 9 hours with one stop. We're taking a few things to make the flights a little easier. We're going to be setting up shop like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show setting up her desk.
1. Inflatable foot pillow for me
I have never been able to sleep on planes but I may have stumbled into something on our last light. I put my feet up on my back pack and was out cold for half the flight.
2. Foot hammock for my wife
Pretty much the same concept as for me.
3. iPod Nano
Yes, laughably old tech, I'll own it.
4. Small tablet
I guess you don't really watch stuff on a little screen embedded in the seat back anymore? At least you shouldn't rely on there being one. My tablet is about 4 years old and doesn't work so well.
5. Blue tooth ear buds for the tablet
My wife picked up a pair at TJ Maxx and they work with my tablet.
6. RFID sleeve for credit/debit cards
Someone can stand next to you and jack your card info.
7. A little bit of food
The day you fly is a good day to fast but it makes sense to be prepared in case you get very hungry. This usually means Quest Bars and maybe a couple of Chomps (a Slim Jim like product). Recently I stumbled into this bar by One. The flavor is fantastic but the carb count is a little high at 12, not Cliff Bar high in the 30's, but a little high.
8. Water bottle
It is insane to me that you can't bring water from home that might be kept cold in an insulated bottle but we can buy some at the airport and hope it's cold in the airport store fridge.
9. Some sort of bleach wipe
Cleaning up where you're going to sit for 6 hours seems like a good idea these days...or maybe it's crazy.
10. Travel size Kleenex
Needing a kleenex and not having one makes for a long flight.
