The Recipe for Intentional Living by Marshall Goldsmith
Having coached the world's top executives, Marshall, at age 73, delivers a message that is simple to understand and hard to apply.
How to live a more intentional life?
Align your 3 A's
1. Aspiration
What you want to become. A lifetime project with your last breath as a "deadline".
2. Ambitions
They flow (logically) from your aspiration. These are your goals. What you want to achieve. Once the date has passed, whether you have succeeded or not, you launch into your next ambition. Decorrelate your value from the outcome.
3. Actions
They give rhythm to your daily life. They are all the seeds you sow to achieve your ambitions. Don't wait until you get there to be happy, try to be happy while you accomplish them.
4. A simple secret to understand and so hard to apply.
- Have these three elements in your basket. The three are independent, but take one away and the recipe fails.
- Make sure you link them together. Ambitions and actions flow from your ambition.
-Without execution (actions) it's all a cerebral exercise. And your life is very real and limited in time. Action is what allows you to live it.
