Preview

    1. Session 1: As we embark on Session 1 of our comprehensive Dog Life Unleashed Training Program, I am excited to work together with you and your dog to achieve your training goals.

During this session, we will begin by introducing your dog to the concept of focus, and I will help them understand the importance of paying attention to you. I will also teach your dog the "Ready? Get It!" Game, a fun and effective way to improve their response time to commands as well as an understanding of marker words your dog can be cued with.

Additionally, we will work together to develop your leash handling skills so that you can communicate more effectively with your dog during walks and other activities. I will introduce you and your dog to the E-collar and teach them the "Follow Me" game, along with the "Sit" command as a foundation for addressing unwanted behaviors such as jumping.

At Dog Life Unleashed, I believe that building a strong foundation is crucial for a well-behaved and happy dog.

To establish a strong foundation, it's essential to consider your dog's starting point, your handling skills, and your understanding of body language, training tools, and time commitment.

The timing between your first and second appointment can vary between 1-2 weeks, depending on the unique needs of you and your dog. During this time, we will assess your dog's progress and determine the next steps in their training plan.

By taking a personalized approach to training and focusing on a strong foundation, we can achieve long-term success in your dog's behavior and obedience. Let's work together to create a solid foundation that will benefit you and your dog for years to come

    2. Stay Connected and Succeed: The Benefits of Check-Ins and Program Perks

As a valued participant in my Dog Life Unleashed Training Program, you will have access to ongoing support and resources to ensure your success.

You can check in with me via text between appointments, Monday through Saturday, with a response time of 24 hours. This means you'll never be far from an answer to your training questions, and I'll be able to provide ongoing guidance and support as you work with your dog.

Additionally, you'll be invited to participate in Zoom training sessions that take place monthly. These sessions will provide a great opportunity to connect with other dog owners in the program, ask questions, and continue learning and growing with your dog.

At Dog Life Unleashed, my goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to achieve your training goals and build a strong foundation with your dog.

    3. Session 2: Mastering Commands: "Leave It," "Drop It," and "Park It" - Session 2 Overview

During Session 2 of our Dog Life Unleashed Training Program. In this session, we'll be reviewing and building upon the foundation we established in Session 1.

We'll begin by reviewing your leash handling skills and your dog's comprehension of the E-collar. We'll also review the progress your dog has made with the "Follow Me" and "Sit" commands, as well as their performance in the "Ready? Get It!" game.

Next, we'll add two crucial commands to your dog's training: "Leave it" and "Drop it." These commands will help your dog learn to let go of items they should not have, such as food or objects that could be dangerous.

We'll also introduce a new command, "Park It," using an elevated bed to teach a solid stay. This will set the stage for recall (come when called) training and help your dog learn to stay in one place for extended periods.

Finally, we'll introduce E-collar level communication as the distraction level increases. This will help your dog understand when they are expected to listen and respond, even in high-stress situations.

At Dog Life Unleashed, we believe that a solid foundation is the key to successful dog training. By building on the skills we established in Session 1 and introducing new commands and training techniques, we'll continue to set you and your furry friend up for success.

    4. Session 3: Mastering Distractions: Real-Life Training

Session 3 of our Dog Life Unleashed Training Program. In this session, we'll be reviewing the skills and techniques we've covered in Sessions 1 and 2, and building on them to take your dog's training to the next level.

We'll begin by refining your dog's E-collar levels, so that they are responding reliably in a variety of situations. We'll then introduce real-life distractions, such as walking in the community, on a trail, or in a park, to help your dog learn to respond in distracting environments.

We'll focus on leash walking skills with distraction. This will help your dog learn to walk calmly and confidently in busy environments, and respond to your commands even when there are distractions around.

We'll also begin long-line recall training, teaching your dog to come to you reliably from a distance. This will help ensure that your dog is safe and responsive even when they are off-leash.

Finally, we'll teach the "Down" command, which is a valuable tool for helping your dog learn to relax and stay calm in any situation.

Throughout Session 3, we'll be focusing on the "3 D's" of stay - Duration, Distance, and Distraction - to help your dog master this essential of "stay and recall (come when called).

By building on the skills we've established in previous sessions and introducing new techniques, we'll continue to help you and your dog thrive.

    5. Session 4: Mastering Distractions: Proofing Your Dog's Skills

Session 4 we're going to be focusing on advancing your dog's skills and proofing their training.

We'll start with leash walking in real like scenarios which may be around other dogs, people your neighborhood or a nearby park, whatever is a challenge for your dog. I'll work with you and your dog to help them stay calm and focused, even when other animals are around.

We'll also be continuing our work on the "Park It" command, which teaches your dog to stay in place even when there are distractions around. This is a great skill for any dog to have, and it will come in especially handy as we move on to off-leash recall training.

Speaking of recall, that's our next focus for today. We'll be using a long line to work on recall training, helping your dog become responsive and obedient even when they're off-leash. This is an important skill for any dog, and it will give you the peace of mind to let your dog explore and have fun while still staying safe.

Of course, we'll also be addressing any problem behaviors or skills that you'd like your dog to work on. I'm here to help you achieve your training goals, and I'll work with you to find a solution that meets your needs.

    6. Session 5: Fine-Tuning Your Dog's Training: Session 5 of Dog Life Unleashed Program

Session 5 is a special lesson that's reserved for troubleshooting any problem behaviors that may have come up since the start of the training program, or for addressing any specific advanced skills that you may want to work on with your dog.

If there are any issues that we haven't been able to solve in the previous sessions, we'll take this opportunity to review and fine-tune your dog's training plan. We'll identify any new challenges that have come up and work on developing effective strategies to overcome them.

Alternatively, if you have a specific advanced skill that you'd like to teach your dog, this session can be used to introduce and develop those skills.

This session can be used up to 6 months from the start of the training program, giving you plenty of time to work on any problem behaviors or advanced skills that you'd like to address. My goal is to help you and your dog achieve success and build a strong, lifelong bond.

    7. Flexible Training for Lasting Results: A Personalized Schedule for Your Dog's Needs

As we go through this training outline, it's important to keep in mind that the sessions are tailored to you and your dog's unique needs, learning style, and ability to grasp the concepts. That's why I typically schedule sessions 1-3 weeks apart, and conduct progress assessments at each training session.

In addition, I understand that sometimes you may need additional support in between sessions. That's why we offer the ability to communicate via text or Zoom training to help you continue advancing without pushing too hard too fast.

I believe that setting a strong foundation for new skills is crucial to long-term success. That being said, we will make sure that you advance rather than staying stuck too long.

If your dog is reactive, anxious, or overly excited, these behaviors may require revisiting the foundations for a longer period and may need more time to work through interactions with other dogs, people, or places.

As a private training client, we have the flexibility to pivot and adjust according to your dog's unique behavioral needs. Our goal is to ensure that you and your dog have a successful training experience and build a strong foundation for a happy, healthy, and obedient relationship.

    8. Building a Foundation for Voice Command with Ecollar: Understanding the Ecollar Training Process

I believe that ecollar training can be a game-changer for both you and your dog. With this type of training, the ultimate goal is for your dog to be able to respond to your voice commands without the need for a leash. Instead, you will use light taps to guide your dog, and then mark the moment of correct behavior with stimulation turning off and a reward, whether it be by voice, treat or physical touch. Consistently pairing a word with an action in this way will eventually allow you to drop the stimulation out and rely solely on verbal cues.

However, it's important to note that each dog learns at their own pace, so the time it takes for them to become reliable with ecollar training may vary. I typically recommend committing to 90 days of consistent use and then gradually tapering off the use of the tool as your dog becomes more confident and responsive.

In some cases, dogs with issues such as reactivity to other dogs or people may need more time to adjust and let go of ingrained behaviors with ecollar training (or any training for that matter), and there may be situations where ecollar use is extended or relied on for extended periods of time. Even in these cases, most behaviors become habits using verbal cues only.
