1. .22 mag is substantially more powerful than .22lr.
Depending on load, .22 mag will have approx. 30% more energy at any given range. This allows one to harvest slightly larger game cleanly and humanely.2. It’s still not nearly as powerful as most centerfire rifle calibers.
Even centerfire pistol caliber carbines will have far more muzzle energy3. Like all rimfire calibers, .22 mag is very affordable….

5. Accuracy is about the same between the 2 rounds.
6. There are fewer rifle choices than .22lr.
