Exercises I Like Doing
Inspired by a few different posts on NotePD.
1. Deadlifts
Possibly the most comprehensive and important movement with weights.
2. Farmers carry
If it deadlifting is not the most comprehensive and important movement, then this one is.
3. Jumping rope
A form of high intensity interval training (HIIT). Much more time effective versus a treadmill or the like.
4. Hiking
I love to hike. We hike regularly and we make hiking the focus of just about every trip we take. Trailing is better than walking on sidewalks because it is important for long term balance that we walk on uneven surfaces. Related: retaining the ability to walk fast is very important for successful aging.
5. Goblet squat
Squats are very important to do. Retaining the ability to bend down to pick up heavy things is very important for successful aging. From the standpoint of just wanting to age well, it might not matter what type of squat you do. Goblet squat greatly reduces the odds of injury versus back squat (the most common variation).
