Where do you hope to be in 10 years?

I've had many hopes and dreams that never came to fruition. This is a good thing, as life itself gave me experiences more amazing than I could have imagined.

But if I were to look into my heart and project 10 years into the future, here's where I'd be:

    1. Living with the love of my life

I've been married and divorced. Relationships are difficult, but I've learned much more about life and I value true commitment.

    2. Raising a son and/or daughter

I've experienced most everything I wish to experience in life. Having a child would be the most profound experience I can imagine.

    3. Having traveled to Japan

I've traveled to 30 countries, but never Japan. I find myself pulled towards it, and I don't know why. If I died tomorrow, it's the one country I'd be upset that I never got to see.

    4. Successful independent career

This could take many forms. I'm currently an emotional coach with a focus on anxiety reduction.

While I value the intimacy of one-on-one connection, I recognize it's scalable. In ten years, I'd like to have more free time to spend with my family.

    5. Sane

The world gets crazy. Often. Above all else, I want to keep my piece of mind.

    6. Healthy

I'm 38, and I'm healthier than I was ten years ago. Yes, the body gets older, but I can still be living a healthier lifestyle at 48 than I am now.

    7. Joyful

I'm joyful now. Wherever the future goes, I don't want to lose that.

    8. Have my own private house

I'm currently renting. The house is unbelievable. I'm truly living in luxury.

But I desire my own private home to raise a family.

    9. Sell a million books

It doesn't have to be the same book, although that would expedite things quite nicely.

I already wrote a book that I love. It's beautiful, and if I marketed it well, it might catch on.

But I also have many books in me. How many books can I write in 10 years? How many has @JamesAltucher written? A lot! He's like the non-fiction Stephen King.

I might not have that level of output, but with proper focus, I could aim for one a year.

    10. Be a source of inspiration

Some children grow up in environments that have no positive role models. It's heartbreaking.

I want to be a positive role model and inspire others to make life beautiful.
