How do you tackle a project/problem/thing you need to get done?

Here's a fun tautology that rings true: different people are different. I think that's what makes this challenge interesting. We all have different tendencies, processes, and tricks for tackling what needs to get done. Here are some of mine.
I spent so much of my life skipping this step before I realized how crucial it was to being successful. Clarifying the problem and your goal before acting is so important!
What problem (s) am I trying to solve? All projects should be a solution to something. Knowing what that something is is the first step.

One manifestation of my laziness is that I don't like to paint myself into a corner where I have to get the thing done in the next few hours. One is I just don't like the idea of having to work on something when I might not feel like it plus a call for service with the fire department can take all day, or longer.
Develop at least a rough understanding of the project if not a precise understanding as soon as I know I have to do it. This might be thinking about it or mapping out a list of what is required.
Have had a lot of things come at me at once and it's been challenging to prioritize. Was very stressed, now as things start coming off my plate, I'm feeling a lot better!
